Second Annual Jr. QCAM Summer Camp @ DACC
This summer during our 2nd Annual Jr. QCAM Summer Camp, 11 students from local area middle schools participated in the Doña Ana Community College (DACC) Quality Control in Additive Manufacturing (QCAM) Camp, held June 13th through June 16th, at the DACC Workforce Center.
The camp was once again hosted by the DACC Automation and Manufacturing Program and co-sponsored by the QCAM Consortium.
Participating students were provided with hands-on opportunities to learn about computer-aided drafting (CAD) solid modeling, 3Dprinting, and related career pathways. Students learned to create 3D CAD models and how to prepare those models for 3D printing. Students created small projects and assembled a 3D printed smartphone stand. Students also viewed videos of how 3D printing is used to build houses out of concrete, create complex parts out of metal, and print vegetarian steaks.
Participating students received a DACC backpack, DACC flash drive, information about related programs at DACC/NMSU, and a digital certificate of completion.
