QCAM @ NMSU PREP Academy 2023

Once again, QCAM had the privilege of partnering with the NMSU College of Engineering Outreach department to include a QCAM focus as a part of this year’s NM PREP Academy. As a part of the QCAM contribution to the NM PREP Academy, students from both the High School and Middle School sessions had the opportunity to tour the Non-Destructive Evaluation Lab and experience special demonstrations performed by QCAM director, Dr. Borys Drach and his graduate research assistants.

Students also participated in a QCAM-sponsored activity that was overseen by the QCAM ambassador from NMSU. The activity is meant to give the students a hands-on experience related to the focus of quality control in additive manufacturing.

In total 36 students were exposed to the mission of the QCAM project. This means 36 students were given a chance to learn more about what additive manufacturing is, how quality control in additive manufacturing will impact their future, and how they can get involved with QCAM and similar projects once they get to the college level.

It is our hope by continuing to engage with local K-12 students, QCAM will plant a seed that will develop into a desire to be more involved in the STEM field in the future.
