Spring 2024 Capstone Poster Presentation
Last Friday, on May 3rd, QCAM was proud to see another senior capstone design team complete their year long project with a final poster presentation at the Capstone Design Day. Members of this capstone team include Joshua Mader, Wade Hatch, Anthony Gonzalez, Natalie Martin, and Crystal Quezada. The team was mentored by research scientists from our QCAM partner Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC).
The objective of this capstone project was to design, fabricate, assemble, and test a 3D printed pressure vessel. Over the course of two semesters, the team researched the material properties of nylon-12 polymer and HP Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) technology, held bi-weekly meetings with their KCNSC advisors to gain insight as to next steps, and then produced and tested their final design (as pictured below).
We are very proud of the hard work these students put into this project and equally as excited to follow their journeys as they finish their degrees and move on in their careers. We hope their experience working with the amazing folks at KCNSC has ignited a desire for continued work with the NNSA.
